G8 distruptions

Ontario is preparing to welcome the world at the upcoming G8 Summit in Muskoka! Huntsville...
Ontario Parks will continue to operate all of their provincial parks during the Summit. Algonquin Park and of course Algonquin Lakeside Inn are in close proximity to the G8 and so you may have minor delays due to security checkpoints and detours in and around the Huntsville area. Anyone travelling to us and the park should give themselves extra driving time.

Road restrictions will begin on the morning of June 23 and are currently planned to stay in place until June 27. This includes restrictions travelling on a portion of Highway 60.

No closures or restrictions within Algonquin Park are expected, however visitors heading to us and the park through Huntsville, can expect some minor detours as security measures will be in place. The best travel route to Algonquin Lakeside Inn and the Park is , from Hwy 11 to Hwy 60, is to take Muskoka Road 117 east from Bracebridge, over to Dorset, and then Hwy 35 north to Hwy 60. This scenic route will only add approximately 20 minutes of extra driving time.
